Rachel McLean Rachel McLean - Scotland

    Age started dancing?
    8

    Why did you start?
A friend of my mum's used to dance and introduced me to my first pas de basque. After going to my first class I enjoyed it so much I carried on!

    First teacher & current teacher?
    Wilma Tolmie

    Competitive highlights?
Winnig the Junior World Championship in 2004.

    Favourite competition?
    Cowal

    Why is this your favourite?
The way everything is set out with the pipe bands and the atmosphere gives me a buzz! Also being able to compete against dancers from all over the world.

    Non-competitive highlights?
Being part of a choreography team in Oban and winning first prize.

    Favourite dance & reason?
The Highland Fling, because it shows how graceful highland dancers can be. Also the Hornpipe because it is exciting with all the different steps.

    Funniest dancing memory?
Dancing with somebody double my height (which is not hard) at a games when nearly getting swept off my feet and nearly falling flat on my face and when the dance had finished noticed the judge laughing because of the way I must have looked.
