The
CelticSpirit dance co was
formally established in 1985 by 10 times World Highland Dancing Champions Deryck
& Gareth Mitchelson.
The
drive behind the formation of the dance company was to bring together aspects
from the traditional forms of Scottish (and in particular Highland) dancing
and to present 'lyrical Highland tratitions with a fresh twist' (dancebase 2003).The dances contain traditional movements and rhythms combined in a non-traditional way and have included running split leaps and sword fights and the name reflects the energy of the dance whilst being a reminder of the traditional links.
Deryck & Gareth are avilable for judging, teaching, examining, workshops or demonstrations.
